The 31st convention of Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) got underway here today at Mary Help of Christians, Cathedral under the theme “Celebrating Faith, Celebrating Culture".

The main speaker for the inaugural programme, Rev. Fr. Vemedo Joseph Kezo, Spiritual Director, ACYA called upon the youths to uphold the culture and also not to forget their roots.

While encouraging the youths to respect their parents, he said blessings come from parents and that 'God gave our parents and their blessings come from our God'.

Rev. Fr. Kezo mentioned that God sometimes tests us to make us stronger. He exhorted the youths not to give up but make their faith deeper in him. He said, “God listens to you. Don’t give up on Him, and He will give you what you want.” Calling upon the youths to live a responsible life, he reminded that a true Christian should not limit him/herself to the church alone.

He also reminded about the importance of Rosary prayer and called upon the youths to make use of it.

A total of 675 delegates from 35 villages are attending the convention which will go on till January 21.
