DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 13 (MExN): The Dimapur Sumi Students Union (DSSU) today expressed concern at the non payment of salaries to government teachers, and urged the Nagaland state government and the Department of School Education to look into the issue with utmost sincerity without any delay. Asserting that this regular irresponsible system of non-payment of salaries to the teachers has had an adverse effect on the careers of thousands of students, DSSU President, Tovika K Chishi and General Secretary, Steve Chophy in a press note stated that the careers of the students cannot be put at stake. It mentioned that teachers like any other government employees have been carrying out their duty with utmost dedication and sincerity; and “as such deserve to be treated equally in line with any other government employees without any discriminations or bias.” It further assured “fullest possible cooperation to the aggrieved teachers associations.”
