Kohima, August 8 (MExN): Major General Bipin Bakshi, Vishisht Seva Medal, Additional Director General NCC North East region arrived at Kohima on second day of his visit to Nagaland. Upon his arrival, General Bakshi carried out an interaction with NCC Cadets and Associated NCC Officers from various schools and colleges of Kohima region, stated a press release issued by Col C Konwer, PRO (DEF).
In his opening statement to the cadets he appreciated the excellent performance of NCC in Nagaland and commended the hard work being put in by officers and cadets alike. He was happy to have an open interaction with so cheerful and motivated cadets from the state and impressed upon cadets the importance of self discipline and taking pride in uniform.
On the occasion, General Bakshi visited Kohima War Cemetery and paid homage to martyrs of World War–II. He appreciated the efforts of Nagaland Govt in maintaining the world famous war memorial in such excellent manner.
Later in the day, Major General Bakshi called upon Temjen Toy, Chief Secretary of Nagaland. On behalf of the National Cadet Corps the General Officer apprised the Chief Secretary about the scope of NCC activities in the State and also discussed future expansion plans, establishment of a multi disciplinary activity centre and measures to optimise NCC training in Nagaland.
In the afternoon the General Officer visited NCC Group Headquarters at Kohima where he was briefed by the Group Commander Brigadier SS Dhankhar on various issues peculiar to functioning of NCC in Nagaland. He was also provided with an update on latest achievements of NCC Kohima Group and its units.
