Adhere to recruitment rules: PSAN reminds govt departments

Dimapur, February 22 (MExN): The Public Service Aspirants of Nagaland (PSAN) on Saturday issued a statement reminding government departments of the rules and court orders set in place against backdoor appointments.

“In view of rampant backdoor appointments taking place in the state,” the PSAN reminded the government to “adhere to Personnel & Administrative Reforms Office Memorandums dated August 4, 2008 and August 11, 2016 on ‘Ban on appointment on contract basis.’”

It also referred to the Court judgment passed on August 5, 2018 and July 26, 2018 with regard to a Public Interest Litigation against backdoor appointments, which banned all such appointments and said, “Any backdoor (illegal) appointment made after the court order August 5, 2018 would tantamount to blatant undermining of the judiciary and contempt of court.”

The State Government must know clearly that any appointment made without advertisement is not only unconstitutional but also null and void, it added.

Further, it said that while the PSAN “has been tirelessly fighting to cleanse favouritism and nepotism in the recruitment process, many departments have continued to make a mockery of the efforts of PSAN and the order(s) issued by the court of law by continuing to make rampant illegal appointments.”

PSAN, therefore, reminds the departments that the educated youth of Nagaland will be left with no other option than to protest in the streets and take their own course of action if the same practice continues, the statement read.
