Adhere RTE Act in letter & spirit

Kiphire | February 24  : The seminar on Right to Education (RTE) was held at the Hopongkyu Memorial hall, Kiphire today with Vipralhou Kesiezier, Director SCERT and Zavise Rume, Lecturer DIET as resource persons. The seminar was organized by the DIET Pfutsero.
Speaking on the topic ‘Implementation of Right to Education Act 2009’ the Director SCERT said, “RTE is one of the fundamental right and is to be implemented in letter and spirit.” He said that no society has seen progress without education and to bring transformation and reform in the society, education is the only solution.” Therefore, every child has to get compulsory elementary education from age group of 6 to 14 years, he added. Dealing at length about the RTE Act the Director said that ‘implementation of RTE Act may be a problem in few years time but as time passes it will be adjusted’ and encouraged the participants not to be apprehensive about it.
Answering to the queries raised by the participants the Director said, “Government is sincere to establish DIET institute to Kiphire and Longleng so that there will not be any problem for requisite qualified teachers.”
 Principal DIET Pfutsero, Bano Vinito accorded warm welcome to the gathering and said that the world is moving fast and education is the only basic thing which is the need of the moment. She also added that ‘Quality education of a child will determine the progress of the society.’ She called upon the participating Education community to wake up and start working for the welfare of the student community.
In the evening session Zavise Rume Lecturer DIET spoke on the topic ‘community participation in the context of RTE 2009.’ The programme was chaired by N. Imnatula Aier, DEO Kiphire while vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Yanthan Lecturer, DIET Pfutsero.
