Adhoc teachers suspends hunger strike

The adhoc teachers under the banner of the All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers’ Group 2015 Batch has called off the proposed hunger strike which was to begin from June 27 following government’s assurance to move the Interlocutory Application (IA) in the High Court. "In the light of the development that the government has agreed to move the IA in the High Court, the hunger strike has been suspended," informed Bendang Ozukum, spokesperson of ANATG 2015 Batch on Tuesday evening. He said a general meeting would be held on June 27 to gather consensus and also to decide on the next course of action. On Tuesday, the adhoc teachers had continued their protest outside the Directorate of School Education (DoSE) for the 7th consecutive day, with no assurance from the Nagaland Government forthcoming. The protesting teachers include pregnant women, lactating mothers, parents and sole bread earners of families, who have gathered in the state capital from different districts, remote areas with the hope that their protest at the state capital at least would be heard and their demands met.
