Adroit Boys retains 5th Zasinihu Memorial Trophy

Adroit Boys, Sechü Zubza defended its title and emerged as the champions of the 5th Zasinihu Memorial Trophy on Saturday.
Playing the final at WAPO Ground, Sechü Zubza, the defending champions Adroit Boyz lifted the title with ease as they comprehensively defeated Mezoma Students' Union (MSU) 8-0 in the final to emerge as the champions for the second consecutive year.
The runners-up MSU were made to suffer in the final as the champions proved too strong for them.
Adroit Boyz scored very early in the match, and there was no turning back from there on.
It may be mentioned that Adroit Boyz earlier won the trophy in 2017 at Jotsoma village following their victory against Phoenix FC in the final.
In its journey to lift the title, Adroit Boyz beat Khwüno United, Khonoma 2-1 in the semis, while they had a narrow escape in the quarters by overcoming former two-times champions Sechü Zubza Students' Union in the quarterfinal via tie-breaker.
Meanwhile, MSU made it to the final defeating Ferret FC, Jotsoma 1-0 in the semifinal.
The champions walked away with a cash award of Rs. 40,000, sponsored by Keneizhakho Nakhro, MLA, 8th Western Angami A/C, while the runners-up Mezoma Students' Union received a cash award of Rs. 25,000, sponsored by Rokovisa Chase, assistant registrar of cooperative societies,Coooeration department, Govt of Nagaland.
The losing semifinalists, Khwüno United and Ferret FC both received a prize money of Rs. 10,000 each, sponsored by Neikuolie Seyie and Neivikuolie Kuotsu, lecturer, DIET, Mokokchung.
The individual awards were sponsored by Er. Neisievilie Lhousa, Asst General Manager (Project) HUDCO.
The closing programme and the final match were graced by Kelevituo Nisa, Revenue Officer of Kohima as the guest of honour.
Earlier, Khisanol Viswentso, vice president of Angami Youth Organisation, graced the semifinals as the match patron.
A total of 15 teams from Western Angami region took part in the four-day tournament organised by Western Angami Students' Union.
Ramietech Solutions and G- Sports, Dimapur were the official parters of this year’s edition.
Organising committee convenor Neidilhoutuo Sechü extended sincere thanks and appreciation to all the people who were behind in making the tournament a grand success.
