Adventure Camp underway at MKg

Morung Express News Mokokchung | February 18   A one week Adventure Camp organized by the Nagaland Association for Adventure Mountaineering & Education (NAAME) is currently underway at Mokokchung where twenty-five members are camping and taking part in the different activities.   The Adventure Camp 2016 is being sponsored by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) Nagaland Zone where youths from Tuensang, Mokokchung, Longleng, Zunheboto and Kohima are camping at Ungma village.  

The campers are taking part in different activities like zip-lining, trekking, rappelling, night safari, rope knot, nature study, obstacles, cleanliness drive (under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan), river rafting (at Dikhu river), river crossing yoga etc. The activities are being carried out under the watchful eye of trained professionals led by Chief Instructor, Khrieketoulie Kintso.   Camp director, Kelhouzasie Lawrence, informed that the Nagaland Association for Adventure, Mountaineering & Education (NAAME) was formed in the year 2006 to promote adventure sports in the state given the fact that the topography of Nagaland is very suitable for Adventure Sports and Mountaineering.   Highlighting some of the achievements of NAAME, Lawrence disclosed that the association holds activities at the Hornbill Festival and Green Park Dimapur besides holding an annual competition to climb Mt Japfu. The Association also participates in the North East Zone Sports Climbing and two of the members are holders of a silver and bronze medal. The association also facilitates interested adventurous youths to go for training in the different training schools in different parts of the country.   Meanwhile, the NAAME officials acknowledged the NYKS, Nagaland Zone for sponsoring the Adventure Camp 2016. Besides, the officials also expressed heartfelt gratitude to Ungma village for their hospitality and logistical support rendered to the association for the successful holding of the Camp. They also extended appreciation to the Assam Rifles for allowing them to use the AR Ground in Mokokchung for the ‘obstacle course’.
