The Mizoram government is investing immense efforts to further improve tourism in the state.

Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga said this on Tuesday while gracing the “Destination North East 2020” event via video conference.

Zoramthanga claimed that Mizoram’s eco-tourism is growing at a great pace and added that the ‘Mizoram Responsible Tourism Policy, 2020’ will ensure that tourism in the state will see new heights.

Stating that the natural beauty of Mizoram has given big advantages to the state’s eco-tourism, he said adventure sports in the state will further improve as the state’s topography favours such sports.

It can be mentioned here that the Mizoram government had successfully organised International Paragliding Accuracy Championship in Serchhip town, about 107 km from Aizawl in February this year.

It also has a ‘tourist police’ force in the state for the security of tourists.

According to Zoramthanga, many tourist spots such as Adventure Theme Park at Reiek village, which about 29 km south of Aizawl and the newly opened golf course and a resort at Thenzawl in Serchhip district have been attracting people.

Also speaking on the occasion, Mizoram Tourism minister Robert Romawia Royte said the efforts of the state government to improve and promote tourism in the state are yielding results.
