The Advisor for Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland, Hekani Jakhalu, hosted the National Flag at the District Industries Center (DIC) in Zunheboto on January 25. The occasion was marked by discussions on local industrial growth, support for entrepreneurs, and the welfare of artisans and craftsmen in the district.

During the event, a proposal was submitted to Hekani by Er N Toky Chishi, General Manager of DIC, Zunheboto. The discussion centered on the office’s operations and future development plans for the district. Hekani took this opportunity to emphasise the importance of the PM Vishwakarma scheme, highlighting its potential to support and empower entrepreneurs and crafts persons in the region. She further stressed the need to address grievances of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to foster a more conducive environment for business development.

Hekani inspected the offices and areas within the District Industries Center, evaluating them for upcoming projects that will benefit the district. She underscored the critical need to uplift local artisans and craftsmen, noting that identifying and promoting their talents is essential for economic growth. “The PM Vishwakarma scheme gives top priority to supporting craftsmen and artisans. We need to ensure that we identify the skilled individuals in our communities and assist them in honing their craft while passing on their knowledge to the younger generation,” she said.

Er N Toki Chishi, the General Manager of DIC, Zunheboto, also shared insights into his efforts in identifying and promoting local craftsmen. He emphasized the importance of nurturing entrepreneurship to stimulate growth within the district.

Khehoshe H Yepthomi, President of the NDPP Zunheboto region, added that there is immense potential in the district, especially with many talented artisans and craftsmen. He pointed out that these individuals should be given the necessary support, and efforts should be made to help school dropouts by providing them opportunities in the fields of arts and crafts.

The discussions concluded with a unified commitment to supporting local talent, fostering entrepreneurship, and providing meaningful opportunities for youth in the district to thrive.
