Gariphema Bawe, February 28 (MExN): The Advisor of Land Resources G Ikuto Zhimomi accompanied by Department of Land Resources Director and senior officers visited PMKSY-WDC 2.0 project area at Gariphema Bawe and Tuophe Phezou, Tuophema on February 28.
A press release received here stated that villagers have harvested about 2.50 MT of parchment coffee during this season and some portions are still yet to be harvested.
Advisor Ikuto visited the recently completed coffee washing station which is supported with funding from NEC project 2022-23. Capacity of the washing station is 1000 kg per hour, which can handle production of cherry coffee from the entire cluster. Currently, there are 95 growers in Gariphema Bawe with total area coverage of about 100 Ha, the release stated.
The Advisor and entourage also visited Touphe Phesou coffee plantation and took a first-hand look at coffee drying process in the farms. The cluster has about 3.00 MT of parchment coffee ready for marketing, the growers reported. He visited the ongoing land preparation for further expansion of plantation during 2024-25.
The Advisor also visited the ongoing installation works of coffee washing station at Tseisema Bawe and interacted with the beneficiaries of the facility. The facility is partially completed but various stages of machines have been tested and working smoothly, it was observed.
