GA Guest House in Longleng inaugurated

Nagaland CAWD & Taxes Advisor, Kudecho Khamo inaugurated the General Administration (GA) Guest House, Longleng on July 18.
Addressing the inaugural programme, the Advisor expressed delight over the inauguration of the new GA Rest House and congratulated the department, led by CAWD’s Assistant Chief Engineer Er. Sungtiba Amer, for the initiative and exemplary work.
Khamo expressed concern over landowners who continue to claim “ancestral land” despite receiving compensation and, in some cases, government jobs. He urged that such practices be stopped to facilitate development.
He asserted that such practices are legally and traditionally a curse to reclaim and morally wrong. He added that it is a shame and a sin, lamenting that the Naga people have not realised this despite being Christians.
Meanwhile, he pointed out that in earlier times, there were no issues related to land for developmental purposes and civilisation, while acknowledging the landowners for their generosity in paving the way for development.
Khamo maintained that the government, realising the recurring problems, has changed its approach through the outright purchase of land for developmental purposes.
However, he expressed concern about the disunity within Naga society and families, adding that it is high time for change—even politically—so as to enable progress and development.
Highlighting the recent political development with the shift of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), wherein the local legislator A. Pongshi Phom is among the members who joined, he expressed delight at strengthening the hand of Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio-led government and called for strengthening the party and the government at the grassroots.
He also assured that Rio’s government is seriously working towards the development of the state.
Khamo highlighted the initiatives of the state government through the Chief Minister's Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), Chief Minister’s Micro-Finance Initiative (CMMFI), and the Skills and Entrepreneurs Development Mission, while advising people to avail themselves of these facilities. He added that the state government is promoting meritocracy.
He further stated that there are better avenues beyond government jobs and encouraged the youth of the state to explore new opportunities by embracing change through a shift in mindset.
Khamo asserted that the government is committed to the development of the state and appealed for public cooperation and support.
A. Pongshi Phom, MLA, who is also the Chairman of the DPDB Longleng, expressed delight at the inauguration of the new facility in the district.
He advised the people to take ownership of government properties, adding that these are public properties meant for posterity.
He appealed for public patience, stating that the government is seriously working and committed to the development of the state.
The technical report for the construction of the GA Rest House with VIP Suite (including furniture and furnishings) at Longleng was presented by Er. Sungtiba Amer, Assistant Chief Engineer, CAWD.
He informed that the building was conceptualised based on the requirements of the department and designed to meet the long-felt needs of the public in Longleng District.
He said the GA Rest House is a G+1 RCC structure with a total plinth area of 4,051.11 sq. ft., inclusive of sites and services. The construction was completed in all respects in December 2024, executed by M/s A. Pongshi Phom & Sons.
Amer acknowledged the timely and quality execution of the project by the contractor.
Y. B. Angam Phom, President of the Phom People’s Council, expressed gratitude for fulfilling the long-cherished dream of the Phom people with the inauguration of the GA Guest House. He urged the government to provide more amenities and upgrade key administrative offices in Longleng, assuring the PPC’s support for development.
Earlier, Longleng DC W. Manpai Phom welcomed the gathering and said the Guest House meets a long-felt need for proper hosting facilities, appreciating the contractor and department for the successful project.
Later, Khamo along with Pongshi Phom, Er Sungtiba Amer and others also inspected the ongoing construction of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) office complex at Tamlu.
