Advisor Namri Nchang meets JAC Peren

Peren, July 15 (MExN): Advisor for Water Resources, Government of Nagaland, Namri Nchang visited Jalukie on July 15, and held a consultative meeting with the Joint Action Committee (JAC) for COVID-19, Peren District, at Jalukie 'B' Village Council Hall.


Speaking at the meeting, the Advisor called on the leaders present to stand for the cause of the people without basing on any political colour. There may be many shortcomings, yet as a human, let us learn from one another, he stated.


Nchang also said that the State Government is doing its best and with the various facilities provided, it is time for each and every individual to be more obedient and disciplined, without which nothing good will happen.


He called upon the leaders of the youth, to educate all the youths and reminded them to respect one another and not to politicise issues, stating that COVID-19 is not a political problem, but an issue which involves saving lives.


He urged all the members present to stand by the truth. Nchang also congratulated the JAC for their tireless efforts and asked them to continue their good work.


The Advisor encouraged the people to rededicate themselves and work with dedication to make the district a safer place.


Retd SP and former NDPPcandidate, 7th Peren, Iherie Ndang, CEC Member, NDPP also encouraged all the leaders present to collectively continue their good work.


According to a press release from the Advisor’s PS, the meeting was chaired by JAC Convenor Dr Tumda Newme with members of JAC, leaders from various Churches Associations and public leaders of the district in attendance.

 

JAC Peren reiterates demands

While the Advisor’s visit was an unofficial one, JAC Convenor Dr Tumda Newme told The Morung Express that the JAC reiterated its demands for the district during the meeting. They urged the Advisor to follow up their demands with the state government. While informing that one of the senior doctors in the district was given temporary charge as CMO of the district on July 14, the JAC highlighted that a permanent and full- fledged CMO was the need of the hour to instill a sense of leadership during the COVID-19 crisis.


The agitation called by Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN), Kuki Students’ Organization (KSO) and the Zeme Youth Organization Nagaland (ZYON) has been put on hold from July 11 following a meeting with the state level committee headed by Health and Family Welfare Secretary Kesonyu Yhome on July 9.


However, the assurances given by the government are yet to be fulfilled, as per reports.
