Advocacy campaign on Swachhata Hi Seva in Niuland

NIULAND, September 25 (MExN): The PHED Rural Division Dimapur held an advocacy campaign on the nationwide ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 on the theme ‘Garbage Free India and sustainable sanitation for all’ at Government Higher Secondary School, Niuland on September 23.

The students took the Swachhata pledge which was administered by Vice Principal, Nikali Sumi, GHSS Niuland, stated a press release issued by PHED Rural Division Dimapur. The advocacy campaign and Swachhata pledge drive falling under the key pillar “Swachhata Ki Bhagidaari” which is at the heart of the campaign is aimed at bringing about behavioral changes among the students. By undertaking the “Swachhata Pledge”, one to commits to maintain cleanliness in homes, workplaces, and public areas. 

At the campaign District Co-ordinator DWSM, PHED Dimapur Division, Imojungla Longkumer delivered a short talk on “Swachhata” and interacted with the students on anti litter and anti Single Use Plastic initiatives and promoting sustainable alternatives to single use plastics. She stressed on the importance of behavioral change of the masses inorder to bring about visible and sustainable transformation.

As part of the advocacy, a litter bin was donated to the students with a poster slogan on anti-litter “Together we can stop litter”. The campaign was a zero waste and SUP free event. The campaign encourages citizens to stop using single use plastic and instead opt for eco-friendly materials.
