Dimapur, June 12 (MExN): District advocacy meet on IDD cum Monthly Review meeting was held on June 3, 2011 at the Chief Medical Officer’s chamber at 12 noon.
The meeting was chaired by the Dr. I. Sungit Jamir, Chief Medical Officer. He welcomed all the representatives of ICTCs, TB, NGOs, DAPCU and Medical officers of Kiphire District. Dr. Khruto, District Malaria Officer spoke on the issues relating to Iodine salt, why it is so important, the effects and the solution for prevention of iodine deficiency. Dr. I. Sungit Jamir, CMO also added on saying that health is wealth and to go for quality salt and not quantity. Dr. Kibang, District Immunization Officer, appealed and requests the members that all activities under the supervision Chief Medical Officer information should be passed through proper channel.
Thereafter, the meeting was put forward for monthly review and discussion. All the members present took active part in the meeting. During the meeting it was discussed and decided that the reason for poor monthly reporting and what could be done improve it. The District program Manager and Block program Managers were instructed to collaborate with the Medical officers’ in charge of the health units and monitor the timely submission of monthly report. The members agreed that no medical staffs’ will hold two post i.e., work in two places. Also, the health units will be provided proper electrical facility, inverter and also public toilets should be in place.
