Phek, December 18 (MExN): In a landmark event, the community of Kutsapo village under Phek district finally realized their long-awaited wish by bringing home the mortal remains of Late Sonetso Esan from Darjeeling after 48 years since he died.
Esan, a Pre-University Arts student of St. Joseph College, Darjeeling had died in an unfortunate accident on October 18, 1969 while pursuing his studies and was buried at Bhanu Gram Protestant Cemetery in Darjeeling, informed a press release from Kutsapo Students’ Union. The youngest son of Late Kuhuso Vadeo, Esan was the first matriculate from Kutsapo and was also the first designated students' union president of the village.
The grave exhumation project was carried out under the initiative of Kutsapo Students’ Union (KSU) led by its president Dr. Nutazo Lohe, an Assistant Professor of Phek Government College.
While keeping the record of Esan's achievements and contributions as visionary leader and a pioneer in the field of education, the grave exhumation project was also carried out coinciding with the forthcoming 50th KSU Golden Jubilee celebration cum 70th General Session of Chakhesang Students’ Union scheduled in January 2018 at Kutsapo village.
Amid utmost due tribute and homage paid by the community as a whole, Esan was finally laid to rest in a grand manner in his own native soil at Kutsapo village on December 17 with all necessary post exhumation memorial rites, the release added.
