Afternoon thunderstorm affects power supply

Dimapur | July 7

Saturday afternoon’s burst of heavy rain cut power supply to a number of localities connected to the Industrial Estate 33/11Kv sub-station in Dimapur. A department official informed that two 11Kv feeders (lines) were damaged by lightning during the storm. “Thahekhu and Kashiram feeders were affected by lighting,” the official said, while adding that supply to several localities on the western fringes of the city being fed by the two lines was interrupted for 6-7 hours as a result. He said that the damage was not that grave as to cause worry as the faults were detected and rectified. The Kashiram feeder was charged by 9:00 pm while workers were on the job to charge the Thahekhu feeder, he added.
