GethemGo Sports International (GSI) will be hosting the 6th edition of Agape Cup, a National Christian Football Championship under the aegis of Sports Coalition of India (SCI) from May 10 to 12 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.

Announcing this during a press conference at IG Stadium here this evening, Agape Cup convenor Kekhrielelie Tseikha said that beside host Nagaland, nine states – Goa, Kerala, Odisha, Jharkand, West Bengal, Manipur, Assam, Arunachal and Tripura would participate in the tourney.

The Agape Cup is endorsed by Youth Resources and Sports Department Government of Nagaland and Nagaland Football Association, said Tseikha.

The fixture for the league tourney will be drawn on May 9, he said.

Agape Cup is an initiative of Christian Sports Ministries since 2013 which was envisaged by Sports Coalition of India, GSI Director Dr Viposa Kiso.

He also said that beside the matches, the players and team officials would be participating in sports ministry leadership and discipline training to be conducted at Jubilee Memorial Centre, Lerie.

The mission of the Agape Cup is to promote, spread and propagate the gospel through the tournament, he said, adding that the uniqueness about this tournament is the leadership training along with the tournament as part of sports ministry.

Through the ministry they want to help and encourage sports people to live their faith and help them excel in sports, he said.

The tournament helps participants to have fellowship with players from different states and share their testimonies about what Christ has been doing in their lives. It also helps in preparing the Indian National Christian Team to be selected for the Unity World Cup Tournament by 2024.

Meanwhile, Dr Kiso also announced that Team India will be participating in the upcoming Unity Christian Football World Cup to be held in 2024 either in Colombia or India with the participation of 16 countries.

For this, he said players of Team India will be selected from among the players of Agape Cup.
