Guwahati, November 12 (MExN): Under the jurisdiction of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), Agartala Railway Station in Tripura has been selected as one of the 18 locations for the launch of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra (PMBJK).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the 18 PMBJK stores at various locations on November 13 from Darbhanga, Bihar.
According to an NFR release, the PMBJK will be set up in the concourse area of Agartala Railway Station, adjacent to Platform No. 1, with dimensions of 2.5 metre by 4.5 metre.
The total area of the PMBJK at Agartala will be 11.25 square metre, ensuring easy accessibility for both passengers and the general public, it said.
The PMBJK is a campaign launched by the Government of India to provide quality medicines at affordable prices, particularly for the poor and disadvantaged, through exclusive outlets. The primary objective is to reduce out-of-pocket expenses for healthcare.
The Kendra stores will offer generic drugs, which are available at lower prices but are equivalent in quality and efficacy to expensive branded medicines, the release added
