Merapani, November 8 (MExN): The Advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, visited the Nagaland State Seed Farm in Merapani on November 8, accompanied by Wezope Kenye, APC, and senior officials from the Department of Agriculture led by Sanuzo, Addl. Director. During his visit, Yanthan emphasized the crucial role of the State Seed Farm as a vital asset for the Agriculture Department and the state at large.
Reflecting on his time at the farm from 1989 to 1993, Yanthan expressed joy at revisiting the site after 31 years. He highlighted the importance of farm development, quality seed production, and shared his vision for the future of the farm. Wezope Kenye, APC, praised the size and potential of the farm, urging staff to be more dedicated to its development. Sanuzo, Addl. Director, reaffirmed the department’s commitment to farm development and underlined the need for income generation and self-sustainability.
The Nagaland State Seed Farm, established in 1969, spans 535 hectares and serves as a key government farm under the Department of Agriculture. It is located in Merapani, within Wokha district.
