Agri and Allied departments host exhibition in Dimapur

Dimapur, January 28: On the 65th Republic Day, a district level exhibition was conducted on January 26 to create awareness to the farmers and to the public about the latest technological advancement and techniques developed in agriculture and allied sectors.

Agri and Allied departments under the banner of ATMA-Dimapur conducted the exhibition. The exhibition saw participation from department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Soil-conservation, Land Resources Development, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Fishery, Co-operation and KVK. Minister for Roads and Bridges, Parliamentary affairs Kuzholuzo Nienu inaugurated the exhibition.

The Agriculture stall housed various items such as  vegetables and spices that were locally grown in the district, different varieties of cereals and millets, Agro chemicals, power machineries, Bio-fertilizers, Bio-pesticides, IPM Kits, etc. The Horticulture department put up different fruits and flowers produced in Dimapur district. The department also exhibited the cultivation techniques of oyster mushroom as well as button mushrooms. Sericulture department exhibited silk garments and accessories, which were for sale, silk bedspread, and pillowcases were also on display along with different silk yarns produced in the district.

The department of Land Resources and co-operation displayed and sold items produced by various SHGs to promote such groups. Fishery department sold different species of fishes that were produced from the department fishery ponds at concessional rates. The Veterinary & Animal husbandry department exhibited different breeds of farm animals that can be reared in the state and district in particular. KVK, ICAR-Jharnapani also took part in the exhibition. Different technologies were exhibited through literature, farm implements and different breeds of rabbit and poultry were on display. The Soil & water conservation department distributed literature on Decadal Metrological record of Dimapur district. The agri-allied products were sold to the public art the subsidized rate. Dissemination of technology through literatures on different Agri. and Allied technologies were distributed at the exhibition.

District agriculture officer & Project Director(ATMA) S. Bendangtemsu through a press release has expressed gratitude to all the staff of the department for actively contributing their service in making the exhibition a grand success with a large number of visitors at the ATMA stalls.
