Merapani, June 1 (MExN): Parliamentary Secretary for Irrigation & Flood Control Department, N Jacob Zhimomi inaugurated agri seed farm minor irrigation project at State Seed Farm, Merapani, Wokha, on June 1.
The programme was chaired by Er. Njilo Kemp, Chief Engineer, IFCD and the technical report presented by Er. Kughaho Sema, Superintending Engineer, wherein he stated that the project was completed at a cost of Rs. 449.995 lakh funded under AIBP to irrigate a culturable command area of 300 ha.
Dziesatuo Suokhrie, Director of Agriculture, gave a short speech where he thanked the department of Irrigation & Flood Control for the project and stated that it will give assured irrigation and also help the State Seed Farm in the production of certified seeds.
MoU was signed between the IFCD and Agriculture Department and the project was handed over to the Agriculture Department for their use and maintenance henceforth.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Jacob Zhimomi, Parliamentary Secretary, IFCD, encouraged the two departments to work together stressing on the importance of convergence programme. He also exhorted the farmers and public leaders to adopt certified seeds of the farm for increased food crop production.
The programme ended with vote of thanks by Er. Hutoi Sema, Executive Engineer, IFCD. The programme was attended by ADC Merapani, Additional Director Agri, Merapani Village Council members and officers of IFCD.
