Zunheboto DPDB discuses slow pace work of the NHIDCL road works, other issues
Zunheboto, September 15 (MExN): The Nagaland Minister for Agriculture and Cooperation, G Kaito Aye, on September 15, has asked departments especially agriculture and allied to keep “in touch with the farmers, understand their problems and bring it to the government.”
He further informed the monthly Zunheboto District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting that that he has apprised the government to look into the problems of the farmers and provide modern technology agricultural equipment, a DIPR report said.
The minister also directed the departments to submit their performance or developmental activities in the next meeting while directing all heads of departments to be present in station, it said.
As per the report, Kaito said this after the Advisor, School Education and Chairman Zunheboto DPDB, KT Sukhalu requested the minister to give necessary help to the farmers, especially the corn crops cultivators, as their entire crops was destroyed this year due to Fall Army Worm.
He also asked the farmers to send the destroyed crops photos to the department so that they can compile and send it to the government, it said.
Among others, the monthly meeting held at Sumi Hoho Conference Hall was attended by the Deputy Commissioner Peter Lichamo; Advisor to Food and Civil Supply, LMCP and Taxes, Pukhayi Assumi; officials from different departments; and members of civil societies.
Meanwhile, during the meeting, the legislators as well as various NGOs expressed their displeasure over the slow pace work of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) and asked the company to expedite the work and also provide quality work according to the Detailed Project Reports (DPR).
The General Manager, NHIDCL assured that they will try to best to complete the work in time and their best to provide quality work with public, the report informed.
However, the General Manager also expressed their problems including very high land compensation cases and requested the members to help them so that there will not be any obstacles for work completion in time, it said.
The PWD R&B department presented various departmental activities and the problems faced by the department and shared their problem of non-payment of salaries of almost half of labours under Zunheboto division for more than two years, it added.
The Medical Department also updated on the present COVID-19 status to the members and said that so far, 49237 people has been vaccinated taking the vaccinated percentage to around 65%. It further informed that 13 villages have been declared as fully vaccinated village in the district .
