Dimapur, October 3 (MExN): The Asia Harvest Alliance (AHA) has issued a statement addressing recent allegations of molestation against one Robert Kikon, a Senior Pastor at Father’s House Church, Chumoukedima.
The AHA, in a press release, informed that the pastor in question is no longer affiliated with the alliance, stating that he has not been a member since 2019. “Pastor Robert Kikon is not a member of the Asia Harvest Alliance. The issue of AHA taking action against him is not within our jurisdiction,” the statement explained.
“We pray for all the victims affected by Pastor Robert Kikon’s actions, directly or indirectly, and believe that they will find Christ’s healing grace and peace as they turn to Him,” AHA said. While sending prayers to the victims of the pastor's actions and the congregation of the Father's House Church, the AHA also extended "prayers, love and forgiveness to Pastor Robert Kikon, who must now face the consequences of his decisions."
The statement detailed AHA's past interactions with Kikon and its current role in providing counsel to The Father’s House Church, where Kikon had served as pastor.
Kikon had been a member of the alliance from its inception in 2016 and participated in its conferences until 2019. However, after that year’s annual conference, he voluntarily disassociated himself from the organization. His church, The Father’s House, also ceased its participation in AHA activities, it was informed.
In the statement, AHA recounted past incidents where allegations of inappropriate behavior had been brought to their attention.
In 2017, leaders of the alliance confronted Kikon after receiving reports that he had engaged in inappropriate texting "in the area of homosexual tendencies." Kikon admitted to struggling with this issue in the past and assured the AHA that these incidents were from a period he had since overcome through “repentance and counseling.”
However, in 2019, after another set of similar reports surfaced, AHA took further steps. A second meeting was held, during which Kikon was confronted again, this time with leaders from The Father’s House Church present for accountability. AHA asked Kikon to step down from the alliance’s council and offered him continued counseling for his struggles. The Father’s House Church leadership was advised to take their own actions concerning the pastor’s behavior.
After this meeting, Kikon disassociated himself from the alliance entirely, a decision that also saw The Father’s House Church cease its involvement with AHA activities.
“It may be stated here that none of the reports we received in 2017 and 2019 involved minors or physical molestations,” the AHA reiterated, clarifying the nature of the allegations AHA dealt with during its interactions with Kikon.
The alliance emphasized that since Kikon’s disassociation in 2019, it has had no involvement with him or his actions. It was only after the recent revelations, brought to light on September 19, 2024, that the church’s Board reached out to AHA for guidance and support. In response, AHA agreed to provide advisory help but maintained that they would not directly engage with Kikon.
“In a meeting held on September 24, 2024, the AHA Council, keeping in mind the responsibility of the body of Christ to ‘bear each other’s burdens’ and in the spirit of love and unity, agreed to offer counsel and support to the church’s Board. However, AHA will not deal directly with Pastor Robert as he is no longer our member,” the alliance explained.
AHA acknowledged that the situation is still unfolding, and more allegations may surface. It appealed to the public for patience and restraint, urging individuals to avoid inflammatory or irresponsible statements that could exacerbate the pain already felt by those involved.
