Ahuna celebrated in Aghunato Town

Zunheboto, November 15 (DIPR): Ahuna festival was celebrated in Aghunato Town on November 14 with people from 54 villages participating in it.   Parliamentary Secretary for Soil & Water Conservation, Pukhayi Assumi, who was the chief guest, said to the people, “As we celebrate this festival let us remember the values of disciplined living and loyalty cultivated by our forefathers and nurture the same so that our present generation, our society would be blessed.”   "If we lose our culture, we lose our identity and our society would be lost," Pukhayi stated, while emphasising on preserving Sumi culture. With regard to development, he informed that the SBI branch has been retrieved and up-gradation of town committee in Aghunato is under process apart from many more development projects which will materialize shortly.   President of Aghunato Area GBs Association, Kuhoje Achumi delivered the welcome address and Nitovi Assumi spoke on the significance of Ahuna.   In the cultural session, folk dance was performed by Lukikhe/Shevishe village. Ayekuzule, Thihele, Thishole, Aqhesho and Akhedo were given by Thokihimi, Lizutomi, Hoshepu, Khumishi villages respectively. Yimchunger cultural group also performed a folkdance. ‘Ahuna kibe’ was prepared by Satami.
