AI: Where do students stand?

DIMAPUR, APRIL 30 (MExN): A masterclass on AI and the Future: Skills, Tools and Challenges” was held at Patkai Christian College Chümoukedima, April 30. Held under the theme, ‘AI and the Future: Skills, Tools and Challenges,’ the masterclass was organized by the Department of Mass Communication, Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) at the UGC Conference Hall.

Around 52 students from different departments attended the activity. Dr. Moalemba Jamir, a trainer with AI for Digital Readiness & Advancement (ADIRA), spoke on the use of AI in the educational sector. He began his session by questioning and encouraging students to understand Artificial Intelligence in the media, asking, “Where do we stand as media students and generally as students?” while also explaining what AI is about.

Dr. Moa further added that the Government of India is taking initiatives in AI by allocating funds, citing the 2047 Viksit Bharat vision and noting that AI is changing rapidly today. He also discussed how AI cannot function on its own and highlighted the importance of providing proper prompts to achieve desired results. According to him, AI uses data from existing sources on the internet and produces the final output.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A session with the students.
