AICC Minority dept hails Nagaland, Manipur victory in LS 2024 election

DELHI, JUNE 12 (MExN): To review the Lok Sabha elections, the meeting of the National Executive of the Minority Department under the leadership of All India Congress Committee Minority Department Chairman and Rajya Sabha MP, Imran Pratapgarhi was held on June 10 at AICC Headquarters, 24 Akbar Road.

In-charge of the SC, ST, OBC & Minority Department, K Raju ji was also present in the meeting. Colleagues from the department put forward their suggestions regarding the results of the Lok Sabha elections and the upcoming assembly elections. In-charge of the department K Raju praised the work of the department and gave suggestions for organizational expansion, a press release stated. 

The department has prepared a road map for the upcoming elections in Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand in which assembly-wise in-charges will be appointed. National Coordinator of Minority Department from Nagaland, Rajesh Kumar Sethi (in-charge of Manipur State), T. Thomas Konyak National Joint Coordinator (in-charge of Tripura State) and Javed Sarwar, Chairman of Minority Department of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee presented their views. Javed Sarwar mentioned that people of Nagaland gave a historic victory to the Congress candidate for the lone Parliamentary seat in Nagaland. 

With not a single Congress MLA in the state, the NDPP candidate was defeated despite having the support of 60 MLAs which include two Deputy Chief Ministers and the Chief Minister along with the Union Ministers, Home Minister of the Government of India and the blessing of Prime Minister, Sarwar pointed out.

National Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala during the election campaign addressed the Congress candidate Supongmeren Jamir by the name of ‘Superman’ Jamir which became reality and Supongmeren won like a Superman, winning with a margin of more than 50,000 votes and elected Member of Parliament, he also highlighted. 

Rajesh Kumar Sethi, who was in-charge of Manipur state, said that in Manipur too, Congress won both the seats while it was stopped from campaigning in the State. Congress candidates were attacked many times and bullets were fired, yet Congress candidate from Inner Manipur, Professor Angomcha Bimol Akoijam and Outer Manipur candidate Alfred Kangam S. Arthur won with huge margin votes. 

On the occasion, Sethi, Konyak and Sarwar honoured MP Imran Pratapgarhi with Naga muffler and congratulated him on his successful completion of his three year tenure as Chairman in office. Nagaland in-charge, Runith D’ Mellow was also present in the meeting and thanked the people of Nagaland for the remarkable victory.
