Dimapur, September 18 (MExN): The ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) has reached up to 48,000 people across six districts in Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh through its 2026 flood relief response, providing essential relief materials and educational support to flood-affected families and children.
The response was undertaken following widespread flooding, flash floods and landslides during the 2026 monsoon, which disrupted homes, livelihoods, agriculture and access to essential supplies in several communities.
With support from Amazon and Nestlé, AIDA facilitated the delivery of dry ration, hygiene and household relief materials to affected communities.
The relief operation began in Dhemaji, Assam, on July 7, with 150 hygiene kits and 150 dry ration kits distributed among affected families in Shantipur and Raba Khatani.
On July 8, the response was extended to Yazali in Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh, where 200 hygiene kits and 200 dry ration kits were provided to affected families in Poosa and Pitapool NEEPCO Colony.
In Sivasagar, Assam, relief materials sufficient for 2,000 families reached the District Commissioner's Relief Distribution Centre under the Civil Defence Office on August 7. On August 11, an additional 300 hygiene kits and 200 ration kits supported by Amazon were distributed in Bhadhara, Kikhipam and Nigo.

In Jorhat, 2,000 relief kits supported by Nestlé reached the District Commissioner's Relief Distribution Centre under the Civil Defence Office on August 10 for onward distribution to flood-affected families.
The relief response also reached Mon district in Nagaland, where 1,000 relief kits supported by Nestlé reached the Konyak Union Office and Don Bosco School, Mon, on August 15 for distribution among flood-affected families.
On September 1, AIDA extended the response to Charaideo district in Assam, where, with support from Nestlé, it facilitated the distribution of 1,000 household kits and 2,000 ration kits to flood-affected families.
Recognising the disruption to children's education caused by the floods, AIDA also provided educational assistance with support from Bosco Gram Vikas Kendra.
It distributed 1,000 educational kits to children in 10 schools in Jorhat on September 2 and another 1,000 educational kits in 15 schools in Sivasagar on September 3.
The educational assistance benefited 2,000 students, providing materials to help children resume or continue their studies following the disruption caused by the floods.
AIDA said the completed response comprised approximately 9,200 family relief kit units, representing an estimated outreach of up to 46,000 individuals based on an average household size of five members.
Together with the 2,000 students who received educational kits, the combined estimated outreach was up to 48,000 people, subject to reporting assumptions and possible overlap among beneficiaries.
The response covered Dhemaji, Sivasagar, Jorhat and Charaideo in Assam; Yazali in Arunachal Pradesh; and Mon in Nagaland.
AIDA said the relief operation was made possible through the combined efforts of its corporate partners, district administrations, Civil Defence authorities, community organisations, local representatives and volunteers.
“The cooperation of local authorities, community organisations and volunteers was particularly important in ensuring that relief materials reached affected communities, especially where movement and access were disrupted by flooding,” AIDA said.
The organisation acknowledged the support of Nestlé, Amazon and Bosco Gram Vikas Kendra in making the relief and educational interventions possible.
While the emergency relief phase has been completed, AIDA noted that recovery for many affected families would take considerably longer, with households continuing to face the consequences of damage to homes, loss of crops, livestock, food stocks and other belongings.
