AIDA-SBI Gram Seva inaugurate Smart Classrooms in five adopted villages

Dimapur, May 9 (MExN): Five ‘Smart Classrooms’ were inaugurated at Diezephe, Urra, Bade, Tsithrongse, and Khriezephe villages by the ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) - Don Bosco which implements the SBI Gram Seva programme in Dimapur.

Along with this, one Science Lab at Bade Village and a Computer Lab at Diezephe Village were also inaugurated, according to a press release received here on Monday. 

The release stated that the Smart Classrooms were set up with the aim of smart learning with technologies that enhances the teaching and learning process for both the students and teachers. The introduction of Smart Classrooms is to increase the learning engagement of students leading to better-performance in their academics.

The establishment of Science Lab in the government school at Bade village is to inculcate creative thinking among the students and provide opportunities and access not only for the students of the village but also students of the neighboring villages, the release stated.

The Computer Lab set up at Diezephe village is to provide computer education to rural students of the village and other neighboring villages by training the students in computer courses like typing tutor; MS Office, MS Excel, PowerPoint, movie making, photo editing, net applications etc., it added. 

As per the release, the new facilities were inaugurated in the presence of officials of SBI, Dimapur and AIDA along with Kiniholi Assumi, Head Teacher Government Middle School of Urra; Ada John, SMC Chairperson, GMS Khriezephe; Apokla Longkumer, Sr SDEO (DEO In-charge) of Bade; Sorenthung, Head Teacher, GMS Tsithrongse; and Vemhayi Chuzho, Sub-Divisional Engineer, BSNL. They all appreciated AIDA and SBI Foundation for setting up the facilities in the rural government schools. Furthermore, they encouraged the community to make use of the facilities provided and urged the students and the teachers to utilize the opportunity to its full extend, it stated.

Rev Fr Nebu Mathew SDB, the Rector of Don Bosco Dimapur invoked God’s blessings and blessed all the facilities while Lanthou Mark, Programme Manager of AIDA - SBI Gram Seva programme proposed the vote of thanks.

According to the release, sources from AIDA also stated that integration of Smart Classroom (combination of smart class room with co-curricular activity room like music lab, sports lab, science lab, computer lab, etc) is provided to improve students’ interest and participation in academic activities through joyous learning, providing equal learning opportunities for rural students. Integrated smart class rooms are aiming at the development of the students and to equip rural students with modern technologies in their own villages. 

By providing these facilities to the rural students, efforts are made towards, achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education; in the 5 adopted rural villages, it added.
