AIFF D' license course underway at Thenyizu

Thenyizu, May 29 (MExN): A six-day long All India Football Federation (AIFF) D’ license course got underway at Thenyizu village under Phek district on May 29.

The course is being initiated by Chokri Area Sports and Games Association (CAGSA) under the guidance of Football Association Phek District. Altogether, 22 football coaches from Tuensang, Kohima, Peren, Dimapur and Phek district are taking part in the weeklong coaching camp. N William Koso, AIFF D Coach Educator and AFC A licensed coach is the instructor for the course.

CAGSA president Sekho Dawhuo said the diploma course was initiated as CAGSA felt the need to have qualified coaches to mould the young players at grassroots level.

He hoped that with the coming of FIFA's "football for schools" even in Nagaland, he felt the need to have trained coaches in the area and the state to render service as needed.

While hoping the coaches will have a memorable stay in the village and urged them to make the best use of the training course as they will be the coaches to mould the young players. He wishes that the coaches will soon produce quality footballers in the state by giving their best effort in their coaching career.

The AIFF-D License Coaching Course provides the ideal introduction to football coaching at grassroot level.  A D-Licence holder will be able to Coach in Grassroots football, college and school teams, District and Inter-city Championships etc. The coaching course comprises theory and practical lessons in the football pitch. After the completion, those candidates who qualify in both the theory and practical exams will be awarded the AIFF “D” Coaching Certificate.
