DIPHU, JANUARY 5: The All India Karbi National Assembly (AIKNA) has condemned the killing of nine people, whose bodies were recovered near Pachaspura, Chumukedima on January 3. A press note from the AIKNA President, George Rongpi called for the immediate arrest and punishment of the culprits involved in “this heinous act.” AIKNA further condemned the killing of Desoi Rongpi on January 4 in Karagaon under Khatkhati Police Station. It also “condemned” the statement of the Rengma Naga Peoples Council, which was published in the media on January 5. Terming the statement as “provocative and highly offensive at this juncture,” the AIKNA stated that the “RNPC instead of working for peace has openly offended the democratic institution of Karbi Anglong District of Assam.”
