Aircel launch 3G in Dimapur

The DC Maong Aier and the operations head of Aircel (NE) Kathirvellu makes the first video call through Aircel’s 3G service during the launch in Dimapur, Tuesday, March 29.
 
DIMAPUR, MARCH 29 (MExN): Aircel -the fifth largest telecom operator in India has finally launched 3G mobile service in Dimapur. The Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur Maong Aier took the honour of launching the service at the cellular service provider’s area office located at Midland, Dimapur on Tuesday, March 29. 3G or 3rd generation mobile telecommunications is the next generation in high speed mobile-internet communications technology.  “Application services include wide-area wireless voice telephone, mobile Internet access, video calls and mobile TV, all in a mobile environment.” Users of the technology can avail of these services at Aircel 3G experience zones.
“It is a privilege for Dimapur to have this third generation in mobile internet technology,” said the DC during the launch today. With 3G, people can have faster access to information, saving time as well. It will also transmit information faster, particularly during law and order situations. The police as well as the administrative machinery will benefit greatly through his technology, sharing information in the shortest possible time, he added. Sharing a lighter moment, he quipped that anyone having access to the technology can now trace the whereabouts of their loved ones or fiancé/fiancée. He was referring to Aircel’s 3G applications – Pocket Finder, which can enable users to locate landmarks as well as know their positions or whereabouts.
Kathirvellu, operations head of Aircel (NE) held that 3G is technology which will bring people ever closer. “We’re proud to launch it and request the people of Dimapur to use it.” It will enable faster communication, faster download/upload and lots of business avenues, he said. Its features include high speed internet, video calling, high-definition multi-player gaming, real time streaming videos, heavy download/upload etc.  Aircel’s next location in Nagaland to take the 3G service is Kohima. The service provider will launch it in the state capital on March 30.
