The Government of India’s (GoI) representative to the political talks, AK Mishra, met the State Cabinet today in the presence of Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio, all Cabinet Ministers, and the Chief Secretary.
The meeting was mostly with regard to the Frontier Nagaland Territory Authority (FNTA) of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples' Organisation (ENPO) issue,’ Nagaland’s Tourism & Higher Education Minister Temjen Imna Along told a press conference held here today in the presence of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister CL John.
Along informed that the Chief Minister had briefed Mishra and his entourage concerning the stand of the State Government and the Cabinet, which was not to divert from any of the core issues and to continue engaging with the ENPO for further deliberation. He said that the twelve remaining points, where differences still exist, can be further negotiated.
“So, further negotiation would go on,” the Minister added.
On the Indo-Naga political issue, Along said that the Chief Minister had ‘clearly’ told Mishra and his team that the aspiration of the Nagas is to see a settlement as soon as possible so that Nagaland can also be part of the journey of Viksit Bharat @2047.
