Akhoya Village Students’ Union celebrates platinum jubilee

Akhoya, January 3 (MExN): Akhoya Village located in a beautiful hillock under Mokokchung district celebrated its Students’ Union platinum jubilee on December 29 with Anenla S Longchari IAS as chief guest.  

In her speech, Anenla S Longchari reminded the students that education is not measured by just passing academic grade and getting degrees but by acquiring the knowledge and its application to meet the needs of the people. She encouraged the students to set proper aim in life from the very beginning and put serious effort in endeavouring to reach that target so as to enable them to use their own potentials for the benefit of the society.  

A press release stated that Anenla S Longchari is the first NCS and IAS officer amongst the women from Akhoya village.  

Rev. Dr. M. Rongsen Longkumer, a professor at Clark Theological College, Aolichen was the main speaker. Speaking on the Jubilee theme “For the Nations”, Rev. Prof. Rongsen enlightened the students that as today’s world is becoming as one family, the nation states is also becoming as members of that global family. It is therefore important that every individual must consciously act with those global consequences. He urged the students to become skilled and participate not only in consumption but also in production side so as to make themselves productive citizens for the nations. He encouraged each and every student to become expert in one or other particular area of human needs to serve the nations meaningfully in one’s own life.  

T. Aochuba IFS and Limaakum T Jamir, NPS also exhorted the students and AKM president, L. Jemti Longchar and LKM president, Imnakika Jamir brought and shared the words of jubilee greetings on the occasion.  

The other highlights of the jubilee celebration were special numbers presented by the Jubilee choir, Naga Idol finalist Purkumzük, duets from Dimapur, Taochimen and Jungjenna and Katila and Sennala.  

Earlier, the chief guest unveiled the Jubilee monument and released the souvenir. The celebration also marked by jubilee feast.
