Dimapur, may 16 (MExN): The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has condemned the inhuman act committed by one LDA cum Computer Operator under the 10 IR Battalion, Zadima (attached to the Police Engineering Project, PEP, PHQ). He has been accused of physically abusing a 9-year-old minor male child belonging to the Konyak community.
AKM in its condemnation note stated that such an act is a gross violation of child rights and human dignity, governed under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. It also infringes upon the fundamental Right to Life as enshrined in Article 21 of the Indian Constitution. Perpetrators of such heinous crimes must be prosecuted without delay under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
AKM stated that it is horrified by the sheer brutality inflicted upon a child, who, at his tender age, deserves care, compassion, and a nurturing environment for holistic growth and safety. It is alarming and unacceptable that a government personnel, entrusted with discipline and duty, would stoop to such a barbaric level.
The Ao Students' Conference firmly asserted that such behaviour has no place in a civilized society and must be dealt with by the law of the land without bias or leniency. We urge the concerned authorities to initiate strict and immediate legal action against accused to ensure that justice is served transparently.
Furthermore, the AKM said it stood in solidarity with the Konyak community and the victim's family.
