AKM takes action on student altercation, warns against ragging

MOKOKCHUNG, SEPTEMBER 10 (MExN): The Office of the Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) has addressed a recent incident involving a group of students in uniform who were involved in an altercation at Mokokchung Town Park on September 5.

Following the altercation, the students were called to the AKM Office, where a thorough review of the incident was conducted, a press release stated adding that disciplinary measures were applied based on the severity of their actions, and the students received counseling. Additionally, the students signed a bond of good behavior, pledging to maintain respectful conduct moving forward. With these actions, the matter has been resolved.

In this connection, the AKM has instructed the village student unions of the involved parties not to pursue the issue further. The organization has also issued a stern warning to all students in Mokokchung District, stating that such conduct will not be tolerated and will lead to serious consequences.

Furthermore, the AKM also expressed concerns about ragging practices occurring in some schools and hostels. Ragging is considered a criminal offense, and the AKM emphasizes that such behavior is unacceptable in a civilized educational environment, it stated. The organization will take strict disciplinary actions against students involved in ragging, both under customary law and legal channels, it added.
