AKTM condemns killing of member; demands justice

Mokokchung, June 25 (MExN): Asetkong Kaketshir Telongjem Mungdang (AKTM) has strongly condemned the “brutal” killing of Sentilong, a member of AKTM, on the night of June 23 in Mokokchung Town.  

The victim, hailing from Mopongchuket village under Asetkong range, was a PhD Scholar at Nagaland University, AKTM informed in a press release. “His brutal murder came as a great shock for the AKTM and strongly denounces this senseless act,” it added.  

Nonetheless, the AKTM through the president, Alapong T Jamir and general secretary, Jongshiyapang Aier lauded the Mokokchung Police for taking up the case with all seriousness and apprehending the persons involved within hours.  

Expressing faith in the Mokokchung Police and judicial system to deliver justice in the incident, AKTM asserted it is closely observing the case. “Our stance and demand is simple – no stone should be left unturned, the guilty should be punished and justice should prevail,” it affirmed.  

AKTM further expressed belief that the Mokokchung judicial system would deliver justice. “Otherwise we would be left with no option but to take our own course of action in the search of justice in the paths of our forefathers.”  

Meanwhile, the organization expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed to God to grant them solace at this hour of grief.
