Akum Imlong School declared ‘Plastic free’

  Tuensang, December 3 (MExN): Akum Imlong School has become the first school in Tuensang District to be declared as ‘Plastic Free School’ under the initiative taken by the Forest Department Tuensang along with the Nagaland Pollution Control Board Dimapur.   The programme was organized at Akum Imlong School where the Divisional Forest Officer and Staff of Tuensang Forest Division attended on December 3. G. Nath, Headmaster of the school chaired the programme where he highlighted on the banned imposed on plastic use in the form of chips, snacks, sweets etc which comes in plastic covers within the school premises.   “The students and the staffs of the school have been imposed with strict rules supporting the banned on plastic use,” Dr C. Zupeni Tsanglai IFS, Divisional Forest Officer Tuensang stated in a press release.   Sensitizing the students on the perspective, Divisional Forest Officer, Dr. C. Zupeni Tsanglai IFS, emphasized on the harmful effect of plastic use on mankind and their surrounding environment while calling upon the students to minimize the use of plastic packaging and opt for alternative biodegradable resources. The Tuensang Forest Division also installed 10 (ten) numbers of non-plastic dustbin along with banners and name plates in the school campus.
