Alempang Ward wins inter-ward beat contest in Mokokchung

Morung Express News Mokokchung | December 18   Five-member band from Alempang Ward lifted the 1st Inter-Ward Beat Contest Mokokchung, which was held at Town Hall on Saturday night and witnessed by retired Additional Development Commissioner, Planning & Co-ordination, Dr. Temsuwati as the chief guest.   The beat contest organized by Temulonger Telok on the theme – Music a soul, a thing for everything – was participated by nine bands representing nine wards of the town. The bands were made to present two 80’s rock music of their choice and the contest was judged by a panel of judges consisting three veteran musicians, namely Lanuakum, Tangit Imsong and L Alemtemsu.   After a night of rock music, the band from Alempang Ward emerged the ultimate winner; they also won three individual prizes in different categories. The band from Sangtemla Ward was adjudged the 1st runner-up.   The winning band was awarded a cash prize of Rs 20,000 plus certificates and a running trophy. The 1st runner-up was given cash prize of Rs 12,000 and certificates.   In the individual prize category, the Best Vocal was bagged by Taliyanger (Alempang Ward), Best Guitarist – Pangjungsoba (Alempang Ward), Best Bassist – Imnajungla (Alempang Ward), and Best Drummer – Imlitoshi (Salangtem Ward).   Earlier in the programme, the chief guest Dr Temsuwati appreciated the organizers for coming up with the idea to host the first inter-ward beat contest, which he said will provide a platform to the young upcoming musicians in the society. Pointing out that Mokokchung is known as the land of pioneers, he also challenged the audience to make Mokokchung a model district. In this regard, he asserted that a model district would need model people and good leaders. He therefore challenged the youths to become role models and responsible citizens for others to emulate and further urged the people to be united and bring about positive changes in the society.   Meanwhile, besides the participating bands, guest artists from ‘Four of Us’ band and also from Temulonger Telok entertained the audience with their special presentations.
