ALIFE talk - To inspire and be inspired to act

ALIFE initiative, a collaboration between three likeminded grass-root social organizations namely Serendip Guardian, PathFinders and CAN Youth will be hosting bi-monthly talks where speakers will speak about “their failures, struggles and success.”  

With the mission “to inspire and be inspired to act,” ALIFE initiative envisions “healthy young people of Nagaland striving for excellence and leading their life as productive individuals.”  

The team leaders of the representing organizations are Rini Ghose- Serendip Guardian; Vitono Gugu Haralu- PathFinders and Jenpu Rongmei-CAN Youth.  

The first and also the inaugural talk will be held on May 29 (Monday) from 5:00 pm at Kuda Café, Dimapur with the theme ‘Breaking Stereotypes’ with Ketholeno Kense Vihienuo and Nise Meruno as the speakers. The participation is on “invitation only.”  

Sharing about the theme, the organisers said that “Stereotype is one issue among many which we are surrounded with. An issue we don’t talk about or we don’t realize what stereotyping is. It has become a part of our lives and its impact on people’s live are huge which goes unheard of. Our words and actions may be a blockage to someone’s growth-psychologically, professionally and socially.”  

“Through the ALIFE talk, we look forward to bring out stories of people who have experienced and undergone a journey of confronting issues and have overcome those fears when shared can help others bring in a deeper understanding of the issue and its impact which will leave people inspired the listener to act upon it,” the organizers added.  

Ketholeno Kense Vihienuo was the winner of the North East Super Model Contest 2011. She went ahead to win the Hunt for the Kingfisher Supermodel 2014. Apart from modeling for big names like Atsu Sekhose, Tarun Tahiliani, she has also landed a couple of fashion magazine editorials and covers too, including the Vogue September cover with Ranbir Kapoor.  

Nise Meruno is the first Indian to become the Brand Ambassador for Yamaha Pianos, Japan. Recipient of several awards for achievements, excellence and contribution in Music, Nise Meruno is a recipient of Governor’s Award 2007, Top 30 Young Achievers of the Country 2011, Young Achievers Award 2012 and JK Chowdhury National Award 2015. Besides performing internationally, Nise is also the Director of two well known groups- Zowe Madrigal and Voices of Hope.
