All Blacks crowned MPL 2018 Champion

KOHIMA, June 23 (MExN): Needing just a draw from the final game of the season, the All Black produced their best game to rout the MRH Sunrisers 8-2 and emerged as the Champions of the 4th edition of the Morning Premier League (MPL) at Seikhazou Ground, Kohima on June 23.      

A scintillating performance from the Champion ensured that they surpassed the last week league leaders Ziekezou Seniors (38 points) and topped the 2018 table with 40 points.  

Earlier, the Morung United also scored an emphatic 4-2 win over its nearest competitor, the Amur Falcons Football Club (AFFC) to close the season at 4th position.  

A closing ceremony was also held after the two matches, to bring the curtain down after four and half months of early morning football. Lezo Putsure, the Director of Youthnet was the special guest at the closing ceremony.  

MPL 2018 which kicked off on February 5 this year saw some exciting and intense football with all the teams competing for the coveted title.  

Silver White and Mrh Sunrisers are the two bottom teams relegated from this year’s MPL. The 2 relegated teams will not take part in the Morning Champion Cup scheduled later this year.  

GeThemGo FC erstwhile known as PowerComm FC who is the defending champions has to settle for a 6th place finish.

MPL and MCC are organized by Morning Football Association (MFA) and is one-of-a-kind tournament is played in the morning with “Health and Friendship” as its motto. This tournament is only for retired players or players above the age of 30.
