All differently abled persons manned polling station in Wokha

Wokha, February 24 (DIPR): The Wokha district election machinery has set up one all differently abled persons manned polling station in the district in tune with the theme ‘accessible election.’

Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer of Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon (IAS) informed this. He further apprised of the four model polling stations, one in each assembly constituency for the differently abled persons.

There will be 20 all women polling stations for the district, he added, appealing to the electors of the district to participate in the electoral process besides maintaining peace within the district.

It may be mentioned that the District Election Office of Wokha organized a SVEEP campaign on clean election from February 7 to 19 with Wokha District SVEEP Icon, Dr. Abeny W. Khuvung.

Various awareness programmes were conducted during the period targeting the aged people and differently abled persons to sensitize them about their rights based on the theme ‘Accessibility of Voters’.

Dr. Abeny toured all the four constituencies covering even the remotest areas in the district, spreading the message on clean election.

“The small contributions we make today and our hard works will surely bear fruits in the future,” she said sharing her experiences of the campaign. “Working with the aged and the PwDs made me realize their importance,” she added. The District Icon urged them all to come forward and exercise their rights saying they are all eligible citizens as much as everyone else.
