Chief Minister, TR Zeliang graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest. Among the oldest and the most primitive weapons, the bow and arrow have evolved and transformed over the ages to become a revered sports discipline today, stated Zeliang in his address. While stating that archers from India have been doing well in the international sports arena, Zeliang exuded confidence that more will emerge from the pool of participants competing in the championship. In this regard, he expressed hope that the All India Police Archery Championship will go a long way in arousing the interest of young men and women towards the sports, which demands utmost patience.
Remarking that women have continuously outshone men in the Indian archery circuit, including Nagaland, Zeliang held that the men should take it as an encouragement to perform better.
