All Nagaland College Students' Union attain 40 years

“Celebration for an establishment bears remarkable mark which gives us an opportunity to retrospect the purpose of the formation, its journey, challenges and achievements,” Nagaland University Registrar Dr Abemo Odyuo underscored while lauding ANCSU for attaining 40 years of its existence.
He was addressing the 40th Foundation Day cum Degree Toppers Felicitation of the All Nagaland College Students' Union (ANCSU) at AMK conference hall, Kohima on August 2.
The Registrar opined that renowned personalities have achieved greatness not in the form of imitation or superficiality but by virtues of “discipline, hard work, sincerity and commitment.” He therefore called the students to inculcate these cardinals as learners. “Now is the right time to start for laying the foundation to lead yourselves to success.”
Emphasizing on inculcating a habit of respecting the role of various persons shaping our lives, he impressed upon the conglomerate that, it is important to “respect your teachers for you learn from them; respect your parents for they give you everything; respect your elders because they have more experience than you; respect government employees because they operate the government.”
Naga Students Federation (NSF) President Ninoto Awomi reflected on the current state of affairs and the realities where "corruption and ism deeply rooted within the government and in our social settings, has not only narrowed down our path towards developmental progress but corroded the very morale of our people." While lamenting that backdoor appointments, snail paced development and fragmentation on tribal lines at work places and hall of learnings entails our society, the President challenged the student fraternity to either choose to "stay true and remain free from the errors of our society" or "get entangled in the web of the ecosystem." This 'change' and reverse cannot be brought about in one go, but starting from our familial and social levels.
Awomi also called the educated lots to become a good people- correcting ones small ways of committing corruption to checking and giving corrective measures wherever and whenever required. "Until and unless you are willing to act, and are able to apply your knowledge into practice, no matter how brilliantly you may have performed in your academics, you are nothing more than just a mere degree holder, if you donot contribute positive things to the society," he further stressed.
Kuzoto Lohe, Tribunal General, ANCSU also advised to also acquint oneself with vocational education, skill development, higher education with Job oriented programmes so that young learners can fit into the mainstream while telling them to choose the right work and be rooted in our cultures and traditions. He further expressed that ANCSU or student bodies should focus on how to get the young learners to explore their talents and abilities.
President, ANCSU Katho P Awomi in his Presidential address lauded the visions of the pioneers for bringing up a responsible and matured student platform and assured that the ANCSU will continue to be dutiful and responsible towards its services for student welfare and colleges in Nagaland.
Earlier, during the felicitation of degree toppers, 14 under Nagaland University; 10 under SCTE, technical education; 13 under Patkai Christian College (autonomous); and 14 from Kohima Science College (Autonomous) were felicitated. This is the second edition of the Degree toppers felicitation. The president has also informed that starting from next year Academic excellence award will be given.
The programme was chaired by Imnameren N Jamir, Assistant General Secretary, ANCSU and speech on behalf of the toppers was delivered by Palnelhoi Thepfüsono Hangsing, BA Topper (NU).
