Wokha, September 17 (MExN): The All Nagaland Hindi Teachers’ Union (ANHTU) observed its 28th state Level Hindi Diwas celebration with the theme ‘Hindi is our pride, the pride of our country’ at WDVDBA & WDVCCA Multipurpose Building, Wokha. The event was hosted by ANHTU Wokha unit, stated a press release received here. 

Theme speaker, Sr SDEO/DEO in-charge Wokha, Y Achilo Murry, remarked that Hindi language was slowly gaining prominence in Nagaland. She said Hindi was not given importance in the past in Nagaland despite being part of the school curriculum. Murry was happy to note that even small children in Nagaland could now fluently read and write Hindi. While highlighting the importance of Hindi, she called upon the teachers to not only teach but promote and become ambassadors of the language.

Ruchunlo Tep, President ANHTU, reflected on the achievements of the union, both for the welfare of hindi teachers as well as promotion of Hindi language in the state. The president further informed on the progress made by the union on issues, including late payment of salaries, being discussed with the state government.

The event also featured special performances by Sochano Tsopoe, Mhathung Ezung and students of RPBS Wokha.
