Allow students to appear CBSE exams from state, parents' appeal Mizoram govt

Parents and students in Mizoram have expressed their anxiety after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the revised date sheet for the remaining class 10th and 12th board examinations slated for July.


It may be mentioned here that students studying in various parts of the country have returned to Mizoram due to the COVID-19 issue.


After learning about the CBSE notification, parents and students in Mizoram demanded for special arrangement so that students can write their examinations from the state. They are more concerned about the safety and risk factors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


The fear of parents and students in Mizoram is stemmed from the reports that COVID-19 cases will witness its peak in July in the country.


The parents also asked as to how can they send their children to elsewhere outside the state when the country is seeing rising cases of the disease.


Meanwhile, some of the parents have reportedly met the chief secretary of Mizoram in this regard. The reports said that the chief secretary assured the worried parents of all possible help. However, it is not clear the nature of help the state government of Mizoram will extend to the students.


The desire of the parents and students is to let the students appear their examinations from the state.


According to sources, students have returned to the state from various cities including New Delhi, Kolkata, Dehradun, Guwahati and Shillong, among others, in early March due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
