
Mon, June 13 (MExN): On May 25, Alo Angh of Longzang Village under Aboi Sub-Division, Mon District was anointed as the Chief Angh under his empire.
To commemorate this auspicious occasion, the newly crowned Chief Angh organized a thanksgiving and celebration programme whereby on his invitation, representative from more than fifteen villages and special invitees from the State of Arunachal Pradesh and neighbouring country of Myanmar attended the event.
CL John, Minister, Rural Development, Rural Employment & Poverty Alleviation, Nagaland was the chief guest of the event. In addressing the event, the chief guest mentioned that Kingship existed in the world culture from the ancient time, as it exist in the Konyak tribe even today. He related the Kingship System (Angh System) with the biblical system of kingship. He greatly appealed and encourage the community led by the Chief Angh that in an Christian Era, the Angh System and its practices should be influenced by Christian principles; in accordance to the will and teaching of Jesus Christ.
According to the law of Angh, the Angh and his royal family have the right to levy tax on its citizen, and that the citizen has the duty to pay tax as is required. The chief guest thus reminded and encourages the Angh (King) to rightfully give ten tithes as well as offering to the church as is mentioned in the Holy Bible to be observed by believers. And he also continued that this act of being obedient to the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible will bring prosperity, peace and blessing upon the kingdom.
