Nicky Kire launching the ambulance meant for Naga community in Shillong.
Dimapur, April 21 (MExN): MLA and parliamentary secretary of Nagaland, Dr. Nicky Kire was in Shillong to launch an ambulance gifted by North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) to serve the 8000 strong members of Naga community in Shillong. At the launch, Kire, while appreciating the efforts of Naga Elders Forum Shillong (NEFS) and Naga community of Shillong in general for their “good works in serving the people”, pledged his support to provide more facilities and also to work with the community to provide a much needed “Medical Lodge” at NEIGRIHMS in Shillong for Naga patients.
NEFS President Prof. Dr. Moa Lemtur, while welcoming Nicky Kire and his wife presented a brief history of NEFS and also expressed appreciation for Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s role in formal establishment of NEFS in 2011. He also expressed gratitude to NEEPCO for gifting the ambulance. Also, further appreciating the good leadership of past NEFS leaders and cooperation of Nagaland House ARC and staff, Moa briefly outlined the projects undertaken so far by NEFS. He lauded the interest of Nagaland government to set up a “Medical lodge” at NEIGRIHMS to assist growing number of Naga patients, and urged that it be executed at the earliest.
The Naga Christian Fellowship Shillong Choir presented a special song and prayer of dedication was offered by Rev. Bonny Resu. Assistant Resident Commissioner of Nagaland government Wapang Aier was also present at the event.
