Amon Kharka gets meritorious award

Kohima, May 21 (MExN): Amon Kharka, a student of John Govt. Higher Secondary School, Viswema, received the John Angami Memorial Award 2016 for securing first division in the recent HSLC exam.  

The award was instituted by the descendants of late John Angami in 2015 to encourage the students and improve the performance of John Govt. Higher Secondary School (JGHSS), Viswema.   The award entitles Rs. 5000 each to be given to the best student among the first division holders in the HSLC and HSSLC exams of JGHSS.   This year, the school had two first division holders in the HSLC exam - Amon Kharka and Keneinguno.   According to a press release from Notsoto John, Amon Kharka is an achiever from a humble background. His parents are dairy farmers. Further, it informed that in the higher secondary section (JGHSS), out of 15 students who appeared, 12 passed. This year was the first time the school appeared in the HSSLC after being upgraded from High School. The release attributed the progressive result to the teachers who have given their best to bring about a change in the school result.
