DIMAPUR, JUNE 27 (MExN): In a new turn of events, the adhoc teachers under the banner of All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers Group-2015 Batch while suspending the indefinite hunger strike proposed from June 27 onwards said on Wednesday that it would continue with the peaceful sit-in protest at the Directorate of School Education, Kohima (DoSE).
A press release issued by the ANATG -2015 Batch said it was now demanding that the education department file an Interlocutory Application (IA) before the Court immediately for modification of interim order to favour the ANATG-2015 Batch.
It also demanded that the Cabinet convene an emergency meeting and review/reconsider its agenda-42 which was defered on November 27, 2017 and immediately approve their genuine demand for service regularization.
While maintaining that its sole demand at this juncture was for regularization of service, the adhoc teachers said granting pay scale as reportedly proposed by the education department and the government was not logical and therefore stands rejected.
The adhoc teacher however cautioned that if their demands were delayed, they would resume the proposed indefinite hunger strike.
The ANATG- 2015 Batch also claimed that during the closed door meeting with DoSE on June 26, the department had assured them of filing an IA to the Court for modification of the interim order in their favour and also proposed for granting pay scale.
DoSE clarify it did not offer scale pay
Meanwhile, the Director of School Education in a clarification note said it did not make any offer with regard to granting pay scale to ANATG 2015 Batch since the issue was beyond their capacity.
A joint clarification issued by Director of School Education, ANSTA president and NSEAOA president maintained that the meeting held on June 26 at 2pm was an effort to resolve the ongoing agitation, particularly the proposed hunger strike. It said the Director was misquoted as offering pay scale and also to file IA by the government in favour of the ANATG -2015 Batch in the court.
A joint meeting with all stake holders at the Principal Secretary’s office was also decided on June 27, which was also agreed by the ANATG -2015 Batch representatives. However the adhoc teachers did not turn up at the said meeting and no discussion could be taken as desired, it stated.
The clarification claimed that the house during the June 26 meeting had only resolved to forward the IA application to the government on top priority for further action.
